Longue Marche Cylinder Music Box

This outstanding Longue Marche cylinder music box is an impressive piece of mechanical artistry that produces a marvelous crisp and melodious sound. The complex movement features a twin comb Sublime Harmonie arrangement, which helps to create the uniquely robust sound of these intricate machines. It plays thanks to its complicated Longue Marche spring mechanism - using four separate springs, the mechanism allows the box to play uninterrupted for over an hour on just one winding. Due to the extended playing time of each cylinder, this model is also known as a "dinner" box, so named because it freed the host or hostess from the bothersome task of cranking the music box during a lengthy evening meal. Today, these complicated music boxes are highly prized, particularly those in such outstanding condition.
